Argentina’s citizenship by investment program will launch in Q4 of 2026. The announcement by Economy Minister Luis Caputo came late on Friday, 2nd of October, the latest twist in what our founder Jeremy Savory describes as "a real telenovela."
For those who have been watching every episode with intense interest, we now finally have some actual numbers instead of speculation. Plus, we already have a page live where you can register your interest.
Expect more announcements in the coming days and weeks. In the meantime, read on to learn more on what the Argentina CBI program costs, what families pay, and how applicants will be vetted.

How much does Argentina citizenship by investment cost?
Argentina’s citizenship by investment program offers two routes:
- Treasury contribution: from US$350,000, non-refundable.
- Government bond: US$800,000 in a security created for the program.
Of the two, the $350,000 donation option is particularly appealing, especially since that entry price is $150,000 less than what was originally floated.
For context, that figure puts it higher than Caribbean equivalent entry points, but cheaper than Türkiye's entry point of $400,000.
The government bond option is reportedly a seven-year bond paying no interest and will likely appeal less to investors (especially since, for half of that amount, you could go the Turkish CBI route and potentially sell the property after three years.)
Also, while these are the most substantial numbers we have received to date, and come direct from ministerial sources, they have yet to be officially published so treat them as the current direction of travel rather than the final word.
Argentina CBI costs for families
Dependents add a Treasury contribution on either route, because the bond covers only the main applicant:
- Spouse: US$100,000
- Children 18 to 25, unmarried and without children: US$100,000
- Children under 18: US$25,000
Older children reportedly must never have married, but need not prove financial dependency. Once again, this is according to the announcement and is not yet official documentation.
When does the Argentina CBI program launch?
Economy Minister Luis Caputo put the launch in Q4 2026. We have nothing more concrete as yet but expect more announcements in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, you can take the first steps today and register your interest now so we can begin the application process as soon as the program launches.
How Argentina will vet CBI applicants
The Agency for Citizenship by Investment Programs (APCI) will lead due diligence, working with the State Intelligence Secretariat, the Financial Information Unit, and the Ministries of Security and the Interior.
Checks cover identity, source of funds, criminal and reputational records, jurisdictional risk and immigration history. APCI recommends while the National Directorate of Migration decides.
Standards are set to follow OECD and FATF recommendations, and every payment must move through the formal banking system. Expect a thorough file and plan your paperwork accordingly.
Key Takeaways:
- Argentina citizenship by investment launches in Q4 2026.
- Entry: US$350,000 Treasury contribution or US$800,000 bond.
- Dependents: US$100,000 per spouse or adult child, US$25,000 per minor, on both routes.
- Family of four: US$500,000 (Treasury) or US$950,000 (bond).
Argentina Citizenship by Investment - Analysis
Argentina's new CBI program is expected to raise over 2 billion dollars and is the first of its kind in Latin America. It offers 140 countries visa free plus E2 USA access and Mercosur membership.
Admittedly, it's the most mercurial member of Mercosur, so we are reserving our judgment until the program launches officially and the application process has been properly tested.
It will also be interesting to see how the EU reacts, given its ongoing squabbles with the Caribbean CBI countries, and the bloc's disdain for citizenship by investment in general.
Another important caveat: under current Argentine law, Argentine nationality is regarded as non-renounceable. So, obtaining Argentine citizenship is a one-way decision and best not taken lightly.
That said, Argentina's citizenship by investment launch is a positive move for our industry. It's good to have less monopolistic agent control of a government CBI program and it's also good for investors to have more options.
In fact, it’s been a while since we have seen the kind of interest this program generated. It’s new, it’s fresh, it’s exciting, and if the number of inquiries we’ve had is anything to go by, demand is certain to be high.
Don’t forget you can pre-register for Argentina’s CBI program now with Millionaire Migrant, that way our team can start processing your application as soon as the program goes live.
